How to Report Ultrasound Analysis in Spartakus APM
/
read

Ultrasound technology is a powerful predictive maintenance tool, widely used for detecting early-stage equipment failures, monitoring lubrication effectiveness, and identifying air leaks. However, managing ultrasound data efficiently remains a challenge for many maintenance teams.
Spartakus APM is not an ultrasound analysis software, but a structured reporting tool designed to replace fragmented documentation methods such as Excel, Word, or PDFs.
By using Spartakus APM, organizations can standardize data collection, improve tracking, and enhance decision-making processes for maintenance strategies.
Step-by-Step Workflow for Reporting Ultrasound Data
There are several methods for using ultrasound in maintenance and reliability. One common approach involves implementing maintenance routes for rotating equipment and lubrication.
Another method includes conducting random inspections for leak detection. In these cases, technicians use detection tools and wear audio headsets to identify the source of a leak.
In both cases, data collection is carried out in two steps:
1. Collecting Ultrasound Data
- Use an ultrasound device to gather data from assets.
- After collection, analyze the data using your ultrasound analysis software to interpret findings and detect anomalies.
2. Logging Ultrasound Data in Spartakus APM

Instead of manually transcribing raw data into spreadsheets or other tools, Spartakus APM offers a standardized approach:
- Enter ultrasound data directly into Spartakus APM.
- While logging the data, you can:
- Assign specific failure modes to assets.
- Add observations and supplementary notes.
- Attach images, audio recordings, or relevant documentation to provide additional context.

Route-Based Ultrasound Inspections (Rotating Equipment & Lubrication)
When performing ultrasound routes, the route should already be created in Spartakus APM.
Once the sensor data has been collected and analyzed in the ultrasound analysis software, access Spartakus APM and navigate to the “Route Planner” section.
Step 1: Start your predefined route
In the route planner section, find the route you collected the data for and initiate it.
Step 2: Select the asset
In the left-hand panel, you will find all the assets included in the route. Start with the first one by clicking it.
Step 3: Input the data
Transfer the data from your ultrasound software into Spartakus APM. Use the dropdown menus and standardized fields to ensure data consistency and efficiency.
Auto-Progression and Alert Management
Once all data related to an asset has been entered into Spartakus APM, you will automatically be directed to the next asset on the list.
If a pre-existing alert is associated with an asset, Spartakus will require you to take action based on the alert. You will have three options:
- Confirm whether the issue persists.
- Mark the issue as resolved if corrective action has been taken.
- Cancel the alert if it is no longer relevant.
Freeform Ultrasound Inspections (Air Leak Detection)
Although Spartakus APM offers advantages in data management and cross-referencing between technologies, it is not specifically optimized for ultrasound reporting of air leaks.
This is because unlike rotating equipment and lubrication monitoring, which follow structured maintenance routes, air leak detection relies on a different approach, typically involving random inspections and real-time identification.
In this process, inspectors move freely through the facility with a headset, detecting air leaks as they occur.
When and if anomalies are found, they must be added manually in spartakus.
Step 1: Identify the assets with a potential failure
In Spartakus APM, identify the assets with potential failures and manually enter the gathered data.
Step 2: Enter the data
Using the same method as with the Route Planner, enter the data into Spartakus APM.
Conclusion
Spartakus APM maintenance software streamlines ultrasound data reporting by providing a structured, standardized workflow. By replacing manual documentation methods with an integrated reporting system, maintenance teams can:
- Improve efficiency in data collection and tracking.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality ultrasound reports.
- Simplify access to data.
- Enable cross-referencing of different technologies.
- Facilitate identification and tracking of failure modes over time.
